Preparation
Step 1 Select proper size.

Approximate sizing:
Micro – 28 weeks and under
Small – 29-36 weeks
Large – 37 weeks and up

Step 2 Clean and dry skin on temples per hospital protocol.

Note: It is important for skin to be as clean and dry as possible. Hydrocolloid adhesive tabs will not adhere properly to moist skin or hair. Oils and lotions will adversely affect adhesion.

DO NOT USE ALCOHOL.

Application
Step 1 Carefully remove hydrocolloid tabs from eye shields.

Before removing plastic liners, hydrocolloid adhesive tabs must be actively warmed. Warming techniques include: hold between the palms of your hands for at least 60 seconds, hold near a radiant warmer for 10-15 seconds, or hold against a chemical heel warmer for 10-15 seconds.

Step 2 Peel and discard plastic liners. Place hydrocolloid adhesive tabs on temples and hold in place for 60 seconds to ensure proper adhesion.

Step 3 Cover eyes with NeoShades and gently attach to hycrocolloid adhesive tabs.

Note: Leave a portion of the tab exposed for easier removal.

Removal
Step 1 Replace NeoShades hydrocolloid adhesive tabs on skin every 5 days or per hospital protocol, whichever is sooner.

Step 2 Hold edge of hydrocolloid adhesive tab in place and slowly separate NeoShades from tab.

Step 3 Saturate hydrocolloid adhesive tab with water or saline.

Step 4 Slowly peel hydrocolloid adhesive tab away from skin as you swab with water or saline.

Repeat for opposite side.

INDICATIONS FOR USE
The NeoShades are indicated for use as eye protection during phototherapy sessions. They are intended for use on pediatric (neonates, infants and children) patients.

CONTRAINDICATIONS, CAUTIONS & WARNING

The NeoShades with Tabs are contraindicated for patients with facial deformation, skin infection or excoriated skin areas that would prevent the proper placement of the tabs. They are not intended for use on adults.

Federal law restricts this device to sale by or on the order of a physician.

NeoShades should only be used while the patient is under the continuous, direct supervision of healthcare professionals.

When using NeoShades intermittently, always assess the integrity of the hydrocolloid tabs whenever the eye shields are removed. If the hydrocolloid tabs are pulling away from the skin, remove per the directions for use and apply new hydrocolloid tabs before resuming phototherapy.

Hydrocolloid adhesive tabs will not adhere properly to moist skin or hair. Oils and lotions will adversely affect adhesion.

Do not use alcohol to clean skin prior to application.

Discontinue use immediately if skin irritation occurs.

Single patient use only.
